The Coastal to explore the coast
This route, also known as the Voie 5 Bretagne, is the cycling equivalent of the GR34 customs trail. This cycle route runs along the Breton coast without ever straying far from the sea, and will eventually link Roscoff to Nantes. Most of the route has already been completed, and the Littorale passes through Concarneau. It's up to you to join it for the distance you want:
- 38.80 km to Bénodet if you head west, passing through Port-la-Forêt, Cap Coz beach, Beg Meil and its creeks, the Mousterlin marshes and its rocky headland before finally reaching Bénodet. The route is divided between cycle lanes for 17 km and shared roads for the rest. Some sections of the route are hilly and therefore a little demanding!
- 31, 24 km to Pont-Aven if you're heading east: from the Ville Close, take the ferry to the Lanriec district, then head for the Pointe de Trévignon, stopping off at Trégunc. Then pass through Névez and its pretty thatched cottages. Finally, follow the river Aven to Pont-Aven. Most of this route is on shared roads. On the whole, it's an easy ride, so it's accessible to everyone.
The Concarneau-Roscoff greenwaya nature odyssey!
To be done in whole or in part, this green route (voie verte) no. 7 runs from Concarneau town centre to the English Channel at Roscoff. Along the way, you'll follow an old railway line before escaping into the countryside as far as Rosporden. After Scaër, you follow the paths of the Montagnes Noires to join the route of another greenway, the Vélodyssée, at Carhaix, which then takes you to Roscoff. The whole route is 147 km long, but you can do just part of it. The whole of Greenway 7 is accessible to all abilities, and can be enjoyed by all the family.
